Wolf Bauer (born June 21, 1950, in Stuttgart) Chairman of the Executive Board of UFA Film & TV Produktion GmbH, CEO of UFA Cinema GmbH and film producer.   

Born in Stuttgart in 1950, Wolf Bauer studied journalism and art history at Munich and Berlin (MA, summa cum laude). He began work in 1976 as a political writer for the German TV magazine show "Kennzeichen D".  

In 1980 Wolf Bauer joined UFA Film and Fernsehproduktion as an editor and producer, and since 1991 has been a producer and CEO of the company. Since FremantleMedia was founded in 2000, he has also been a member of the Operating Board of the global production group. FremantleMedia is RTL Group’s international production arm, which also includes UFA.  

Under his leadership, UFA has developed into a powerful production group with seven subsidiaries, which in recent years has continually expanded its market leadership in Germany as a film and television production company. As head of UFA, Wolf Bauer co-founded Grundy UFA in 1991 with the Australian game-show and daily-drama serial pioneer Reg Grundy, and together with Mike Murphy, turned it into one of Europe's biggest producers of daily drama serials. In 1998 he formed teamWorx together with Nico Hofmann and Ariane Krampe, a production company specializing in high-quality landmark TV films and fiction programming, which established itself among the top 5 German television production companies within 6 years.  

From 2001 to 2007 Wolf Bauer was on the Board of film20, a syndicate of film producers. Since 2001 he has also been a member of Deutsche Bank’s advisory board for eastern German and Chairman of the Erich Pommer Institute advisory board. 

Since 2008 Wolf Bauer is part of the board of trustees of the Bertelsmann foundation aswell as of the board Committee of the alliance of german producers.

Together with Thomas Peter Friedl, Nico Hofmann and Jürgen Schuster founded UFA Cinema Together, which he runs as a member of the management board and as a producer.    

With the revival of the UFA brand as one of the world’s most famous and historic brands in cinema production Bertelsmann, RTL Group and FremantleMedia are sending a clear signal about the continued importance of cinema in the digital age.

Since 1980 Wolf Bauer has produced over 80 TV movies, including “The Snob” (ZDF, 1983 Director: Wolfgang Staudte), "Das Haus am Watt" (ZDF, 1989 director: Sigi Rothemund), "Catherine the Great" (1994, ZDF, directed by Marvin Chomsky) starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, "The Mall" (1997, directed by Norberto Barba) and episodes for such popular series as “Ein unvergessliches Wochenende in…" (An unforgettable weekend in ...”) and adaptations of Rosamunde Pilcher’s novels. Bauer has also produced eight feature films, including "Der Schnüffler" (1982) (aka “Nonstop Trouble with Spies”), "Didi - Der Doppelgänger" (aka “Nonstop Trouble with My Double”) (1983), “Didi und die Rache der Enterbten” (aka “Nonstop Trouble with the Family") (1984),” Der Experte” (aka “Nonstop Trouble with the Experts").   Moreover, Wolf Bauer has been responsible for launching more than 20 series in his role as a producer. These include weekly series for public broadcasters such as "Detektivbüro Roth" (1983, WWF), "Der Untermieter" (1983/1984, ZDF), "Berliner Weiße mit Schuss" (1984, ZDF) and "Der Millionenerbe" (1989, ZDF), both with Gunther Pfitzmann, and one of the first sitcoms on German television, "Die lieben Verwandten" (1989, WDR) and the first weekly reality series “Hinter Gittern – Der Frauenknast”  (1997, RTL). Daily soaps like "Gute Zeiten – Schlechte Zeiten" “(“Good Times, Bad Times”) (since 1992, RTL), " Unter uns" (since 1994, RTL), "Verbotene Liebe" (“Forbidden Love”) (since 1994, ARD) and the telenovelas "Bianca - Wege zum Glück" (2004, ZDF) and "Verliebt in Berlin" (2005, Sat.1) have also been created under his leadership.

Wolf Bauer is producer of  "der Medicus/ The Physician", "Glennkill/ Three bags full" and "Vaterland/ Fatherland". Furthermore he is producer of "Teufelskicker/ The Devils Kickers", "Hanni & Nanni/ The O´Sullivan Twins",  and "Dschungelkind/ Jungle Child".
